A benefit of Microsoft Dynamics GP is the role based user interface. But what if you want to change the role that was set up for you, or you have changed positions? It is easy to customize the Dynamics GP user role. The role based interface helps you to see the information on the home screen that will make you the most productive. But what if you want to customize the Dynamics GP home page even further? That is easy to do also. In this short video Amber Bell, Dynamics GP trainer for CAL Business Solutions will walk you through it step by step.

This is Amber Bell from CAL Business Solutions. Today’s topic is how to customize the Dynamics GP home page, choosing your role and home-page layout.
So, the first thing we’re going to do is take a look at the home page. When your user ID was set up, your system administrator will have picked a role for you. They might not have picked a role that doesn’t really fit you, so we’re going to first talk about picking out a role that fits what you do day to day.
I’m really more of a payables person, so I’m going to go ahead and click customize this page, and I’m going to go down here and say change role. It’s going to pop up and let me know that if I make a change it’s going to change any customizations I’ve done. But I haven’t done anything because I’m not really using my home page yet, so we’re going to click okay, and I’m going to say that for my job I work in manufacturing, and I’m more of a payables person, and you’ll see that this lets me know what my home page is going to have. If I pick receivables, it would pick receivables windows and things like that, so we’re going to go ahead and say payables, and click okay.
And, it will take a second; what it’s going to do is refresh this home page, and change my reminders. Now you can see I have payables due, I have links to payables windows, and I have information for reports and information for the tasks and everything that are really to do with payables.
So maybe some of the screens that I’m looking at I don’t need to see. For example maybe I don’t need my outlook on the home page, or I want to move something up or down. So I’m going to click customize this page again, and now maybe I’ll take away the outlook, maybe I’ll move the connect over and down, so I’m going to move it over and down, and then I’m going to go ahead and click okay, and now what you’re going to see is now my home page is really the order that I want to see it.
