Microsoft Dynamics GP with SalesPad has the power to handle our needs, but still allows us to change as we grow.
With Dynamics GP, I have so many capabilities for inventory that I didn’t have at all with QuickBooks. I can easily get the reports I need. I have great visibility into our inventory levels plus the lot trace function has been a big help.
The staff at CAL Business Solutions has been phenomenal. Everyone has been so patient, so clear and friendly with their instructions.
Over the holiday season, we get hundreds of online orders a day. Without integration, it would take many hours to enter those manually from our POS system. Because Dynamics GP is open and flexible and allows integration it saves us time and manual entry.
CAL Business Solutions has created so many time-saving reports for us. I used to spend at least 3 hours a month on a commission report. Now it takes me just 10 minutes; in a couple of clicks it is done.
Hands down, I would recommend anyone using CAL Business Solutions. The support is absolutely amazing. We love CAL. We could not live without CAL.
Some people say using a consulting company is very expensive. In the beginning, I was watching the budget closely. Over time, we realized that every single time we used them, CAL made us more efficient and more effective, and the ROI was there. They paid for themselves. To us, CAL has been a godsend. For growing companies with a tight budget, CAL is a perfect solution.
All of us on the management staff look at sales stats on our phones constantly. We can scroll through screens that show sales summary, sales by customer, sales by product and a pipeline report. When I’m at home or traveling, SalesPad Mobile is my bible.
When I’m at my desk, the first software I open is SalesPad, and throughout the day, I’m looking at the Sales Monitor screen. This software shows me exactly what’s being invoiced and what’s being shipped. It’s a wonderful snapshot.
Since we were one of the first Acumatica implementations for CAL, they were still learning…But I will say that George, and CAL, made it right, which is very important to me. There are always going to be things that don’t work out as planned. At the end of the day, George stood by what he said they would do and did it. Not everybody does that. So yes, I would recommend CAL Business Solutions.
The areas where Acumatica lacked something out of the box that we needed for the building supply industry, such as complex units of measure and anticipated discounts, CAL Business Solutions was able to create it to meet our needs.
A big deciding factor was Acumatica’s unlimited user pricing model. Most companies make you pay per user but Acumatica does not. We wanted to have a lot of people touch the system, but most of them are not heavy users, for example, drivers or warehouse staff. We knew we could grow with Acumatica, and bring everyone into the system, without any additional costs.
When it came down to the final two choices, Epicor was customized to our industry and Acumatica was not. If this was something we were choosing for the short-term, it may have made more sense to go with the industry-specific solution. But we wanted a system that we felt could grow with us so we would not have to go this process again for another 20 years. Acumatica, by far, seemed a better choice in that regard. It was a better long term play.
I have a lot of respect for George and his team. It’s about the knowledge that the CAL team brought to the table. Obviously it’s one thing to see a product in a demo. It’s another thing to work with somebody who’s dealt with it and customized it for others. CAL has helped us to understand the platform, understand what we can do with it and how to customize it to work for us. At the end of the day, for me, it’s about the business problems that we’re trying to address. We’re trying to speed up our process, we’re trying to be more efficient and drive sales with our customers. Being able to voice those issues to CAL and get the right advice has been a great help for me personally.
The ability to easily customize SalesPad based on our business processes and workflow has been the biggest benefit for us. I feel Microsoft Dynamics GP with SalesPad will benefit anybody who has a sales order process that needs to be customized for their business.
What really excites me about this integration is being able to be on the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics GP; it is just a great product. There’s so much integration and flexibility in the system. It’s not complex to process an invoice or generate payroll. All screens have a common look and feel, so it’s very user-friendly, easy to understand and easy to learn, which is important to us.
I’ve learned more about what Microsoft Dynamics GP can do from working with CAL for the last eight months than I did in the last seven years. The staff at CAL has been fabulous to work with and has provided some very innovative solutions for us. I was originally concerned that the CAL office was located so far from us, but using online tools, it’s never been an impediment. Everyone at CAL is amazing and have really become part of our family. I just can’t say enough great things about CAL!
CAL had the experience that we needed in order to get the business off QuickBooks and going in that initial phase. They helped us re-engineer the chart of accounts and really lay the groundwork.
I knew I wanted to be able to take our financial data, and slice it and dice it, and look at it in 20 different ways from here to Sunday. All I had to do was put my vision down on paper and we were able to execute it in Dynamics GP. That certainly was satisfying.
I think in the context of a start-up organization that is looking for a substantial amount of growth, CAL Business Solutions is certainly able to accommodate both ends of the spectrum. On one side, Dynamics GP is a cost-effective solution for a start-up, but at the same time it is a solution that you can feel confident will grow with you and accommodate a bigger business down the road.
CAL Business Solutions has done a wonderful job. CAL has a passion for the application itself and brings that passion to the customer. CAL Business Solutions absolutely had the project done on time and on budget and it worked out perfectly.
Microsoft Dynamics GP gives us security and audit trails that QuickBooks simply did not have.
For everything we asked, George was able to show us real scenarios of how the data could be organized to fit our business. He gave us solutions rather than just telling us there were open fields available to do whatever we wanted.
The workflow in Sales Pad, allows us to streamline the orders. Getting SalesPad implemented and customized for our business has really led to the productivity increases.
It has helped us improve productivity immensely, especially with error control. We have a lot of products that have similar names… With the barcode system there is very little chance of error. With Dynamics GP we have increased our order accuracy from approximately 85% to 98.5%
Some of the other ERP systems that we looked at were more heavily manufacturing-based, and we were looking for more inventory control and distribution. Dynamics GP gives the Company enough functionality to manage the manufacturing process, without being overkill.
I can flat out tell you that working with CAL is definitely a bright spot. The CAL team has great process knowledge of our distribution business. I just can’t say enough good things about the CAL team.
Prior to Dynamics GP we could effectively process about 20 orders a day per person; now we’re up around 40 or 50 orders a day per person. The customer service people have information at their fingertips. When they enter an order all the customer information data, history, and order details are right on the screen.
I know that we will continue to adapt the ERP system for our own needs; that is the sign of a growing business. With Acumatica, we have the flexibility to do this.
One thing that I love about Acumatica is the Generic Inquiries. I am able to build quick inquiries without a full report, to gather data into one area and see it in a way that can be manipulated and is filtered. Multiple pivot tables can be associated with the Generic Inquiries, allowing the data to be seen in even more custom ways. It is amazing.
I realize that Acumatica is a growing product that has not been around for a long time, and I really love how they are constantly working to improve it and make it better for their customers.
I would definitely recommend working with CAL Business Solutions. They always get back to me and are available when I need them. They are flexible and willing to just go ahead and answer a quick question rather than make me go through a lot of red tape and extra steps.
The Acumatica software is user-friendly and fairly intuitive. The access to specific help on items on each and every page is invaluable, as is the inspect element to identify the exact database location of a field. The use of pop-ups to modify records is helpful and allows a more efficient flow of work.
A main benefit of Acumatica is being able to do things the way we want to do them instead of just working around what you get out of the box. The fact that we can adapt it ourselves, with minimal outside help, is a big bonus.
We would not be where we are if it weren’t for CAL! From general Acumatica setup to customizations, George and his team have been there every step of the way to assist quickly and efficiently. The whole team is very knowledgeable, but if in the rare instance they need help, they are not afraid to seek it in order to get our needs met.
Since implementing Dynamics GP with SalesPad we were able to handle a 30% increase in business without adding personnel. This saves us at least $150,000 each year. With new improvements we predict we will grow an additional 10 to 15 percent per year without hiring additional staff, for the next three years.
Our old reporting system did not provide reports in the format our management wanted to see. CAL found a way for us to get the data directly from Dynamics GP into Excel. It took CAL about 10 hours to build, but it saves us $13,000 a year on license fees. CAL was not only around for the initial set up, they continue to solve problems for us and come up innovative ideas.
Dynamics GP as a financial system is straightforward and easy to use. The initial set up went very smoothly, we didn’t lose even a day in closing the first month after we went live.

It’s going to provide more financial security for us, as far as getting our information our data will be better, there is a lot of neat things that should help enhance our productivity without increasing headcount, which is a big thing for us.

My favorite thing about Dynamics GP with SalesPad is the fact we didn’t have to modify our workflow and procedures to fit the software, the software is flexible to fit us. And as our needs change, the software has been able to grow with us.

I have worked with a variety of different software packages with companies both small and large. Dynamics GP has the functionality of very sophisticated software but is really user friendly. We use VAST as our point of sale software to run the business but rely on GP for the back-end financial reporting and processing part of our business. Dynamics GP is extremely stable but when we need assistance or advice, we rely on CAL Business Solutions as a trusted business partner.
Over the years I have had dealings with numerous software companies. In almost all cases there was always something lacking in terms of satisfaction with the services, costs, or just plain know-how. Using Microsoft Dynamics GP with Olympic Project Cost we know the profitability of each project, whereas before we only knew the profitability of the entire Company. I am a big advocate of the Smartlist feature in GP. using Smartlists I can drop information from Dynamics GP into Excel where I have built calculations, metrics and comparisons. I can produce professional looking financial statements in different versions for different people. The reporting and budgeting features within Microsoft Dynamics GP are very strong. The system is easy to use and I can quickly identify any issues and correct them.
It used to take the finance team 3 days to go through all the contracts and events and contract revenue and manually enter the data into the spreadsheet. Because of the time involved, this was done only done at year-end. Now, using Microsoft Dynamics GP, the process takes no more than one hour and is done once a month.
Our CEO loves the dashboards on his handheld mobile app. He is constantly looking at the numbers. We are able to trend out our data across the different regions and be responsive to that in a way that allows us to take advantage of the changes in the industry… Acumatica provides us visibility to data in real time that allows us to change our operating models on the fly.
I have spent 14 years as both the CIO and COO of a Fortune 50 subsidiary. During that time, I have overseen countless system implementations ranging in cost and complexity. While most were very successful, I cannot remember a single one that was implemented as smoothly as Acumatica with CAL Business Solutions.

I would definitely recommend Dynamics GP and CAL Business Solutions to other companies. The CAL team members we worked with were very creative thinkers, and they are, I think, real experts. We couldn’t have done it without them.
It took two days each month to enter and reenter payments in two systems. Now it takes just five minutes.
GP and SalesPad allow me to keep a good handle on what is going on at my Company every day. If I have a question about an order I can easily pull it up and get a full sales analysis report. Documents that used to disappear in a filing cabinet are now visible to every member of the team through every step in the process from quote to completed order.
There are many things I like about SalesPad, but the one thing that stands out, is the ability to enter orders, twice, three times faster than we used to, and the ability to look up information and data quicker.
I work both in Dynamics GP and in SalesPad. GP is very strong accounting software that I am accustomed to and gives easy access to historical data and present data. Just a great tool to work with. In SalesPad I like the ability to work with information that’s in GP on maybe a little more sales-oriented atmosphere. I also like being able to give my customers answers right away without having to put them on hold to go out and find an actual hard copy of paperwork, it is right there at my fingertips. It makes representing our Company that much better.
I think the Dynamics GP system is very user-friendly. It is very easy to navigate. We have employees that are on different learning curves, and they picked it up right away.
A big chunk of time had been spent keying information into the system, and this resulted in mistakes. We had been overpaying our employees for a specific exception for travel time. CAL built a rule into the payroll system that catches this error. In seven months, we have already saved about $20,000.
We were manually entering 600 timesheets. Payroll took at least 18 hours a week. Now it is down to only eight hours per week with the Dynamics GP automation.
I would absolutely recommend CAL! They built an application to handle a very complicated process and took the time to get it to work.
Dynamics GP has saved us so much time. We use Infinia Integrator to copy and paste into Dynamics GP. In the past, a complex journal entry would probably take us 20 minutes. Now it takes us two minutes.
Everybody at CAL really knows their product. I get the feeling that they use the system a lot and can easily talk us through any questions we have. When we call, we’re completely confident that they know what they’re talking about and won’t put us down if we don’t understand something.
Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) is simple to use because it is windows based. It is easy to train new employees because it looks so much like Office programs they are already familiar with. It streamlines our banking, financial and billing processes into one central system. It integrates with our clinical/patient software so we can take information from there and use it in Great Plains. This makes our month and year end closing much simpler and faster. CAL has done a great job of hiring good people. They give us professional support, answer our questions quickly and offer many training options.
Anytime we have questions we know we can call CAL and get the answer.
Every 4 hours data is automatically pulled from the internal system and builds GL, AP and AR transactions in Dynamics GP. And it keeps our large database of customers and vendors in sync.
Everyone here is very pleased that we now have a resource that can and does answer our questions. In addition, maybe most importantly, someone who actually knows the answer. CAL has given me new hope, not only for GP, but that GP can be part of the solution to help us work our way through the challenge of this year. We are amazed at how powerful GP truly is. Everything from warehouse to AR to AP and our customer relationship has improved a lot with our own customers because of better utilization of the information.
We have been on Dynamics GP for about three years. We are a different Company since we started working with CAL. Our CAL consultant is a wonderful, patient teacher. He has sat at my side for hours, and in fact days, as we went through very recalcitrant bank reconciliation, solved the problem, patiently, quietly, patiently, patiently, going through everything we needed to know and I really feel very empowered working with him.
I just love the Dynamics GP system. I can’t speak highly enough of it. We don’t have to recreate the wheel every time we perform repetitive tasks. We get better information, faster and more efficiently. We can share it others and make better business decisions.

With our old ERP system, it was very frustrating to know that the data was in there, but we couldn’t get to it. Now getting financial information is so easy.
I don’t have to regularly generate financial reports and send them out. The people who need to analyze the data can just click on the link and the report is refreshed and up to date.
Customers want to know you are doing a good job for them. To be able to show them that we shipped 99% of their orders on time is very powerful. SalesPad gives us a better way to analyze our customer information and find ways we can increase business with them. I feel confident it is increasing our business.
Well, I would say that my favorite thing is the ability to get data so easily and manipulate it, really the ability to export to Excel is rockin.
We put together a dream list of technologies we wanted to implement. CAL Business Solutions researched our dream list realistically and brought to the table solutions that were forward-looking, could be implemented in a realistic timeframe and at a budget that made sense. CAL Business Solutions has delivered everything they said they would. They’ve succeeded in making us self-sufficient.
They system helps us minimize the amount of work we have to do to keep quotes rolling out of here. I can confidently say that I can generate 10 times more quotes in a week using Microsoft Dynamics GP with SalesPad than I used to do in QuickBooks.
Our experience with CAL has been excellent. I wish they would support some of our other products so we could receive service of as high quality with other applications. We explored a billing and receivables system, however, our needs are very customized and complicated and the GP product was not the best fit. The CAL staff did make recommendation of other software, and this is an excellent example where CAL’s support service FAR outshines the service we get from another vendor.
The use of Go To Assist has made it infinitely easier to quickly research and solve problems, modify reports, etc. Our project manager is always responsive to calls and inquiries. Even if he is unable to address my inquiry right away, at the least he will send an email to let me know he received my request and when he can expect to work on it. We have been very satisfied.
We have been a client of CAL since 2000. I love the flexibility of Dynamics GP- we’ve had more flexibility and more powerful reporting tools than we ever could have imagined with our old system. We have the flexibility to report from period to period to cross periods. It’s made a huge difference for our reporting capabilities.
The best thing about Microsoft Dynamics GP is that the reporting is so easy, just navigating is very, very easy.
CAL responds quickly to support requests whenever there are technical difficulties, and the accounting department loves the software. It’s a win-win.
We’ve been using CAL Business Solutions and Great Plains (Dynamics GP) now for probably about 8 years and we’ve just recently worked with CAL on a much bigger project, we integrated not only Great Plains for New England Home Care, but also for 3 other states; New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, and CAL came out and upgraded all of our subsidiaries to Great Plains 10.0 and we had a great successful project and our corporate headquarters now is using FRx to take all that data information and report on it. So we went from 4 divisions using Quicken, Peachtree, Great Plains, and a variety of other applications, to everybody now using Great Plains, with one reporting structure, one finalized port, which has streamlined not only reporting at the corporate level, but has made our agency more efficient and more cost-effective. So we love Great Plains and more importantly, we love CAL.
The Great Plains system meets all of our needs. Because it integrates smoothly with our other systems we see significant time savings in running payroll. I can easily generate reports inside Great Plains and because it is a Microsoft system I can easily export information into Excel and use the data any way I want. I have the information I need to make important decisions, quickly.
My experience with CAL and their training has been excellent. I had some one-on-one training with Great Plains (Dynamics GP) when I came in because I have never used Great Plains before and now I can use Great Plains for the type of reporting and the type of information that I need.
A great thing about Dynamics GP is that you are able to catch a lot of information and play with it, sort it, print it out, do all kinds of things to get information to people that need it, and to help management run the business better.

They know how the product works, and they know what we should be doing and what we should not be doing. We rely on them heavily to lead us in the right direction so that we don’t waste money or time doing something we don’t need.
Some people have been reluctant to switch to the new system but overall, people are happy…the owner is happy, the controller’s happy, and we’re just knocking away a bit at the time until we get it done.
CAL Business Solutions been very good at prioritizing what needs to be done, timetabling it, and figuring out when you do what.
One thing that sets CAL apart is that they have people working for them who are very experienced. They have deep knowledge of the Microsoft stack, so they’re not spinning their wheels. They’ve probably done the work before, that we’re asking them to do, so it goes pretty smoothly.

Even though we have used Dynamics GP for several years, the tips covered in our GP Training as a new client of CAL Business Solutions will save each user about 12 minutes a day which adds up to 8 hours saved for the finance department per week.
Before Microsoft Dynamics GP we had reports that were about a thousand pages long, they were very cumbersome and time-consuming and once we switched over, our productivity increased, our reports that we were able to generate were more professional and it just was an overall very positive experience. Microsoft Dynamics with CAL Business Solutions have helped us grow and become a very professional organization. It allows us to focus on the kids and that’s where the attention needs to be.

We came to the CAL office for a brainstorming session regarding our Dynamics GP system, thinking we were going one way. And now we are going in a different direction that is so much easier. We have worked with almost everyone on the CAL staff and they help us implement practical strategies.
Working with CAL has been great. Amber came to our offices to help me get our team ready for the transition from Great Plains version 7.5 to 9.0. She was able to get our people excited about all the changes in the newest version of GP.
When I started where I am now, they were using an Excel spreadsheet to prepare our roughly five different versions of our income statement and frequently none of them agreed with each other. About a year and a half ago we brought in CAL and it’s been running smoothly ever since. I get all of the financial statements off FRx and they agree with each other and I really had no problems with it. The support is excellent. I am very happy with the system.

We use Great Plains for our General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. I feel Great Plains helps us run our business more efficiently. I had used Great Plains in the past and found it easy to learn and easy to use, but it is nice to know that CAL is there for support if we need it.

I have been using Great Plains for 6 years and I learned several things today that I never knew. After spending one day at the CAL training session I have three or four things I have learned that I can go back to the office and use right away to make myself more productive.
